The New York Mets win the rubber game of their series with the Washington Nationals

The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Dillon Gee started for the Mets and pitched well and so did the bullpen. The Mets only managed four hits but two of them were RBI hits.
Gee pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Gee picked up his first win of the season. LaTroy Hawkins faced one batter and struck him out, Brandon Lyon pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Scott Rice gave up a hit in one inning and walked one and struck out one. Bobby Parnell picked up his second save pitching a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.

Daniel Murphy had a hit, Ike Davis had a hit and David Wright drew two walks. John Buck had a hit and an RBI, Lucas Duda drew a walk and Mike Baxter had a hit and an RBI. Buck hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

Jordan Zimmerman took his first loss of the season pitching five innings and giving up two hits and two runs. He walked three and struck out four. Zach Duke pitched two innings giving up two hits and striking out four and Henry Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Denard Span drew two walks, Jayson Werth had a hit and Bryce Harper had a hit and drew a walk. Adam LaRoche had a hit and drew a walk, Lombardozzi had a hit. The Nationals were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Desmond, Rendon and Harper each committed an error.

Buck hit a solo homerun in the second giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the fourth Baxter hit a sacrifice fly to give the Mets a 2-0 lead and that would be the final score.
